Convenor's Message

The 7th edition of the Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS), scheduled this year, from 19 to 22 December. Last year the industry had stood surprised at the success of show-- considering the fact that the country was in the throes of an unprecedented economic meltdown. With 30,000 plus visitors having come to the fair-- and generating business as well --this year we expect the extravaganza to elicit an even more positive response.

Time and time again, have we at the JJS, reiterated that the event is not a money spinner in any sense of the term.As a matter of fact, the profits are ploughed back into the event for the larger interest of the gems and jewellery trade.The idea,after all, is not to make money.

We are indeed privileged to have the Managing Director of Diamond Trading Company (DTC), Ms. Varda Shine ,as the Chief Guest this year .As has been outlined earlier, JJS has made considerable efforts to have the event inaugurated by apt personalities of the the industry. Consequently, the industry and trade has benefited by having ‘expert focus’ on the sector and its related issues.

The top retailers of the country have also confirmed their participation this year. There is no denying that JJS has made Jaipur a brand in its own right in terms of the G&J exposition. In the past couple of years, we have had foreign visitors coming to Jaipur, dovetailing their visit with the exposition.

What is indeed heartening is the fact that the retailers are going to present some of the best material that they have created for the consumers. Needless to say once again that JJS has been setting trends for the G&J sector in the past few years.

It will be only be apt to express a word of gratitude for my fellow team members of the JJS Committee. Their commitment, their focus, their passion to make the event a success is indeed incredible.
